We are looking for an experienced Layout Fitter to join our structural steel team. We’re looking for someone that feels confident in being able to layout and fit together staircases, canopies, misc steel projects, architectural metals, and standard structural members.
Description of duties and responsibilities:
Receives instructions, prints, sketches and work orders then reads and interprets blueprints and plans in the fitting operation
Reads and interprets blueprints and plans the fitting operation.
Handling, spreading, measure, cut, layout, position, align, fit, and weld, grind or place bolts in proper location to fabricate and assemble columns, beams, girders, stairs, handrails and other structural steel components per plans
Bolt, clamp and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding
Lays out work lines or fits up jigs for positioning material when required; checks, squares, and scribes all detail connections.
Burns and tack welds for assembly purposes. Burns, copes and bevels and straightens material.
Follow welding procedures.
Straightens materials by heat or flame. May perform scarfing.
Keeps work area clean.
Must be proficient in the full skills of the trade
